A blend of two traditional Portugese grapes: Castelão is also know as Periquita, or Little Parrot, after the name of a vineyard where it was first planted in the 1850's. Grapes are grown on clay - limestone soils and destemmed before pressing. Fermentation is at a cool temperature in stainless steel vats.
Quinta do Conde has been owned by five generations of the Santos Lima family. It is located in Alenquer, 45kms north of Lisbon. They are the biggest producers of Vinho Regional Lisboa and is also involved in wine production in Algarve, Alentejo, Vinho Verde and Douro.
