This LBV style wine has been aged in barrel for 8 years and now has classic 'port' characteristics of blackberries, cherries, fruit cake, and ginger.
The Bishop of Norwich is not a port because it originates in South Africa. However, this fortified wine was grown on Muratie's Stellenbosch vineyard, which was planted with Portuguese grape varieties in 1965. The wine was aged in cask for two years before Rick tasted it when he visited his friend Rijk in March 2020. He fell in love with it and bottled it in June 2020, and the result rivals any Port.
