Red fruits with a peppery kick that are balanced by dry herb and damp stone notes. The palate offers luscious, velvety texture and with earthy raspberry flavours. The wine has excellent structure and longevity thanks to the lively acidity and soft tannins
It all started at the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard. This was the first vineyard to be planted in the famed, cool-climate Sta. Rita Hills appellation in 1971.
The wine was given 14 months of ageing in French oak barrels (35% new) where it developed concentration and the tannins mellowed. The balance and structure of this wine allow it to age gracefully for the next 12 to 15 years while still tasting good right away.
