Grapes were harvested at night and pressed immediately. Fermentation took place over 2 weeks in stainless steel tanks.
Leeuwin Estate was one of the 5 founding wineries of the Margaret River district of Western Australia. Owners Denis and Tricia Horgan previously raised cattle on the estate until the renowned Napa Valley winemaker Robert Mondavi visited and suggested that the site was ideal for premium wine making. Mondavi offered advice and guidance, with the first commercial wines being produced in 1979. 2 vintages later, the first accolades arrived with Decanter Magazine listing the Art Series Chardonnay as "Highly Recommended." Denis and Tricia have been joined in the business by son Justin and daughter-in-law Simone and together they lead a team amongst the best in the wine business.
