Le Haute de la Roche, planted between 1966-1977 is located at a higher altitude (410masl) than Sur La Rocher 1er Cru and it therefore cannot be given 1er Cru status. Of the Domaine this is Pierre Morat's favourite climat. Less than 2000 bottles made and very few magnums.
The wine is made using whole bunches, it's aged on its fine lees for 11 months in 228 litre French oak of which 12% were new.
Gilles Morat was established in 1997 and is therefore a relative newcommer on the block. With 7 Hectares of Pouilly-Fuisse and only 1.5 Hectares in Saint Veran their production in a good year will be around 40,000 bottles.
