James 

James is the managing director of Thorne Wines. His passion for wine came from his parents sharing their love of wine with him. He has experience across different facets of the wine industry; he has been involved in the wine making process, working both abroad (Vondeling, South Africa) and in the UK (Yearlstone, Devon), he has sold En Primeur wines and managed a wine shop. James is the driving force behind Thorne Wines, you will find him meeting customers, leading tastings, advising on wedding wines, choosing which wines to stock, delivering…the list goes on. Outside of wine, he is a dad to three young children, and loves to kite surf and get out on his road bike. He loves cooking, coffee and is a massive foodie. 

Rob

Rob is in charge of logistics. He will pick, pack and if you’re local to Cambridge, deliver your wine. His background …. 

Josie

Josie works on the digital side of the business as well as getting hands on in the warehouse when needed. She is our in-house sommelier. She has nine years experience of working with wine in hospitality and recently completed a Diploma in Wine, Gastronomy and Business at Le Cordon Bleu in London. Her interest in wine comes from a love of good food and working in restaurants in bars; she has absolutely caught the bug and loves furthering her wine education. She is always open to trying something new when it comes to picking what to drink but she has a huge soft spot for Syrah, so that’s always a go to. Outside of the wine world, she is an enthusiastic home cook and recipe collector. 

Ellie 

Ellie is in charge of marketing, accounts and keeping things organised. A teacher by trade, Ellie has joined the family business to learn more herself. Her wine background involves asking James what wines to drink and she can thoroughly recommend him as a wine advisor. Beyond Thorne Wines, she spends her time running around after three children, eating amazing food cooked by James, reading, knitting and spinning.
