Cabernet Sauvignon 60%; Merlot 35%; Petit Verdot 5%
Chateau La Tour de By is a family owned estate of 94 hectares with vines of an average of 45 years old. The chateau has plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
The wine is fermented in traditional wooden vats and aged for 12 months in French Oak barrels, of which 30% are new for each vintage.
Vines have been grown at the chateau since the 16th Century. The "Tower" in the name is in fact a lighthouse built in the vineyard in 1825 to guide ships navigating the Gironde estuary.
The estate was acquired by former soldier Marc Pagès in 1965. Over the 40 years that he ran the business the vineyard and winery operations were transformed and he established a strong reputation for the wine. Today the business is run by two of Marc's grandsons, Frédéric Le Clerc and Benjamin Richer de Forge.
