The grapes are grown outside Elciego in Rioja Alavesa. The grapes are pressed gently and the juice ferments for 25 days in French oak barrels. After aging for 8 months in French oak barrels the wine is bottled and cellared for 18 months before release.
Bodegas Muriel is now one of Spain's largest wine groups, but this Muriel wine was the foundation upon which the group has been established. Bodegas Muriel was established in 1926 by José Murúa. His son, Julián Murúa, took over in 1986 and has steered the group to its current situation. The group comprises of 6 wineries, 4 in Rioja, 1 in Rias Baixas and the other focusing on traditional varietal country wines.
