Bodegas Godelia is located in Bierzo in northwest Spain. The region is surrounded by mountains, with the river Sil running through the valley. The geography creates areas with different soils and orientations, perfect for vineyards. Being on the pilgrimage route, the Camino de Santiago, vines have been grown in this area for hundreds of years.

Bodegas Godelia focus on the traditional grape varieties; Mencía, Godello and Doña Blanca, combining the winemaking legacy with modern techniques to produce elegant wines that reflect the terroir of the region.

This is the only sweet Mencia wine produced in the world. Only made in exceptional vintages. The grapes are harvested late, after they have started to dry on the vine, and are then further dried by storing at 5ºC before fermentation. Fermentation stopped by cooling to 5ºC. Maceration with the skins for 30 days. Eight month crianza aged in 400 litre new fine grained French oak barrels

The wine pairs well with chocolate desserts and strong cheeses and also with game dishes.
