Made with grapes from three vineyards: Herrenberg, Paulinsberg and Paulinshofberg. Grapes are picked early to ensure that they retain high levels of acidity. This also means that sugar levels are lower, resulting in a lower alcohol wine. The blend includes up to 20% of grapes with Noble Rot.
The Meierer winery is located at the foot of the Paulinsberg mountain, with the cellars driven into the side of the mountain. They own vineyards on the slopes of Paulinsberg and the smaller Paulinshofberg, which joins the larger and renowned Brauneberger Juffer.
Winemaker Matthias Meierer established his winery in 2006, but only worked in it part time, as he enhanced his experience by working with other renowned winemakers. In 2008 he won Young Winemaker of the Year, and since then has concentrated on his own business. His passion is riesling, and he works in every stage of the process, from vineyard to winery. He believes that only through this attention to detail can he produce wines that truly reflect the character of the grape and terroir that produced it.
