Tempranillo and Syrah.
The vineyards for this wine are some of the highest in Spain. Located in the Almeria province of Andalucía, these vines are at altitudes of over 900m. Infact husband and wife owners of Tierra Hermosa, Harry and Katie Hunt have plots which are located in what they call "natures fridge" at over 1000m above sea level. This hot daytime and cold nighttime climate allows them to create wines that one would not expect from the south of Spain.
This wine is their entry level red (keep and eye out for Veinte Grados) but is not at all basic. It shows off its full fruit and spice with class. The high altitude has meant that the wine has retained freshness and acidity to acompany its juicy charm.
We think that the wines grown in this region are soon to hit the spotlight.
