Grenache 66%; Mourvèdre 23%; Syrah 11%.
The Grenache is grown in two locations: on clay soils in Voor Paardeberg and granite soils in Paardeberg. The Mourvèdre and Syrah are from Bot River, the Mourvèdre growing on gravel clay soil, and the Syrah shale soils.
Around 60% of the grapes are added to the bottom of the vat as whole bunches, with the remainder added as berries. Punching down twice a day aids extraction. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 9 months in used oak barrels.
Thorne and Daughters Wines was established by John and Tasha Seccombe in 2012. Their objective is to produce wines that "tell a story of the Cape of Good Hope."
