The wine is named for the river Sil that flows through the region. Many of the river’s tributaries are flanked on either side by vineyards, planted in terraces on steep slate hillsides.
Fruit is sourced from organically grown vineyards located in Valdeorras, Galicia just north of Portugal with Ribeira Sacra to west and Bierzo to East.
Telmo Rodríguez has the reputation of being one of best "flying winemakers". His focus on using varietals from underrated regions like Andalucia, Toro and Sirrea de Gredos along with his desire to recover abondonend vineyards is what drew us to him in the first place. It certainly helps that his family vineyard in Rioja - Remelluri has allowed him to cut his teeth in the development of terroir driven wines.
