Gamay Noir 100%
Produced with grapes from a block of vines planted in 1981. 30% of the harvest was added to the open tanks as whole bunches, with the bunches selected picked from different locations on the vines to bring different flavour profiles. Fermentation was with natural yeasts, followed by a 10 day maceration period. The wine was aged for 10 months in a combination of amphorae and old oak casks then was passed through a coarse filter before bottling.
Villiera Wines was established just outside Stellenbosch in 1983 by cousins Jeff and Simon Grier. Their objective is to produce wines that preserve the characteristics of the grape varieties and reflect the terroir of their vineyards. They are members of the Old Vine Project.
