Produced with organic grapes which were picked by hand and destemmed before gently pressing. The juice was transferred to stainless steel tanks for a long, cool ferment with organic yeasts.
Mike and Claire Allan established Huia Vineyards in 1996 after time spent learning about winemaking at a variety of businesses including Cloudy Bay, Lawson's Dry Hills, Veuve Cliquot and Taittinger. Their 9 hectares of vineyards are located in Rapaura, on what is known locally as the "Golden Mile," close to the Wairau River. The vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically. The underlying Philosophy of Huia is a natural approach to winemaking, working in harmony with their environment.
