Brouwerij Frontaal was established by Roel Buckens in 2015. Roel is a self taught brewer. He was intrigued by different flavours and aromas in beers that he was drinking, and as his curiosity developed he immersed himself in brewing articles and worked in a number of different commercial breweries. The upshot of all this research was starting Brouwerij Frontaal to enable him to apply his research.

Roel's description of what he is trying to achieve:

"We brew our beer according to the slogan "Beer for Thought". With this, we mean creating tastes, colours and smells in the beer which stimulates the drinker to wonder about what those elements are caused by."
