Grapes are harvested from vines over 35 years old, growing on rocky limestone soils in the Monte Alto vineyard near the village of Valbuena de Duero in the Ribera del Duero region. Fermentation temperature is maintained below 28⁰C. The wine is aged for 9 months in used American oak barrels, then a further 9 months in tanks before bottling.
