The wine is named after Great Grandmother of Crystallum owners, Andrew and Peter-Allan Finlayson.
Agnes Floyd arrived in Cape Town at the age of 14, and is said to be the first woman in the town to hold a driving licence.
The grapes are grown in five vineyards in Hemel-en-Aarde and Overberg. Whole bunches are added to the press without sulphur dioxide and the juice transferred to a settling tank. The cleared juice is fermented using natural yeasts in 228 Litre and 500 Litre French oak barrels, of which 10% are new. After fermentation, the wine is left to age for 9 months on the lees in the barrel.
Crystallum was established in 2007, initially producing Sauvignon Blanc. The following year Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines were also produced. They now produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay exclusively and have also acquired their own vineyards around the Walker Bay area.
