Produced with grapes from 20 - 40 year old vines, planted on sand / chalk soils at 530 - 630 meters elevation. All work in the vineyard is done by hand. There is no artificial irrigation.
Grapes are hand picked and the wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve the fruit flavours. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
Castro Ventosa was founded by the Perez family in 1752, and has remained a family business ever since. They own the largest planting of Mencia vines in Bierzo.
