José Maria Losantos Hernando was born in Rioja, so he says that wine has always had a special place in his heart. After leaving school he joined the marines then worked in a variety of industries whilst making small batches of wine as a hobby. In 2004, he made the move into wine as a full time occupation and established Finca Doña Felisa, named after his mother in law. He has now been joined in the business by his daughter who has a degree in Oenology. Whilst José Maria agrees that passion has a part to play in winemaking, he insists that knowledge and technology are essential for the consistent production of high quality wines, as demonstrated in his state of the art winery.
