100% Pinot Noir
Many considered the Ortega brothers to be reckless when they started planting Pinot Noir vines in 1985, 2 kilometers from the Duero river in Valladolid. The vineyard is at an altitude of 1,000m, but experiences some extreme weather conditions.
Bodegas Alta Pavina is located near La Parrilla in Valladolid at an altitude of 1,000m. The vineyards total 35 hectares, with calciferous loam soil, planted with Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Brothers Hugo and Diego Ortega who own Bodegas Alta Pavina have a philosophy for their work:
"While viticulture and oenology are science, winemaking is art, requiring creativity and inventiveness."
